In July 2007, I needed the services of an immigration lawyer and Neelofer Syed was recommended to me by one of her clients. I would rate Neelofer as a lawyer par excellence. She thinks out of the box and comes with really innovative solutions. I was in the sixth year of my H1B. I applied for my Green Card when I had less than a year for the expiry of my sixth year of H1B. We applied for Labor under PERM. My EB2 labor was cleared without much ado. We decided to file for I-140. To my utter surprise my I-140 denied when I had less than a month for my H1B expiry. The reason for the denial was the incorrect evaluation of my 4 year degree as a 3 year degree. My problems compounded several folds as I had only one and half month for the expiry of my H1B. I was very desperate and despondent. I consulted one of the top immigration lawyers in the country. This lawyer asked me to pack my bags and leave for my country. Another lawyer asked me to file MTR (Motion to reopen). The chances of a decision on MTR before the expiry of my 6th year of H1B were very slim. Neelofer came up with the idea of filing a new I-140.
